Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves

Here, some honour loyalty
Some prize manners
We are autumn leaves
We fear the wind

This is one in a long series of poems grouped by their forms, none of which has a title. We gave this poem the title ‘Autumn Leaves’, primarily to distinguish it from the other Qutah (Stanza) poem we translated.

Very little contemporary poetry from Siraiki has been translated into English and we were very lucky that Nukhbah Langah brought these beautiful poems by Shakir Shujaabadi to our workshop.

Qutah 2

Here some people take pride in loyalty
And some have attitude
We are autumn leaves
We always fear winds

This is one in a long series of poems grouped by their forms, none of which has a title.
