English PEN has invited the PTC to translate the poetry of writers from Gaza for an event we’ll be co-hosting with them in May. In this workshop we’ll be translating the work of Faten Al-Gharra. Please note: we’ll be meeting at Kings Place, a new venue for our workshops.

We’re delighted that English PEN has asked us if we can help to translate poetry from Gaza. For further details of this project, please see the link to their excellent World Atlas blog below.

In this workshop we’ll be looking at the work of Fatena Al-Gharra. We were planing to translate a number of her poems in preparation for Fatena’s reading at The Brunei Gallery on 22nd May, an event we hoped be co-hosting with PEN and the Palestine Film Festival. Sadly, the event had to be cancelled due to the difficulties of getting the writers to the UK. But, nevertheless, we were delighted to have this opportunity to translate the poems of Fatena Al-Gharra and Khaled Abdallah, the results of which you can read on our website.

Please note we’ll be meeting at King’s Place, a new venue for our workshops.

We’ll be posting Faten’s poems up on our website once we’ve completed them, so watch this space!
