We are delighted to announce that two Poetry Translation Centre publications have been shortlisted for the first-ever Derek Walcott Prize for poetry, A little body are many parts by Legna Rodríguez Iglesias and the hammer and other poems by Adelaide Ivanova.
The Derek Walcott Prize is for a full-length book of poems published in 2019 by a living poet who is not a US citizen. It was set up to honour Sir Derek Alton Walcott, a Saint Lucian poet and playwright who died in 2017. Walcott was a professor of Poetry and Playwriting at Boston University for 26 years and received the 1992 Nobel Prize in Literature.
