To mark our 20th birthday year, we’re planning a year of events featuring some of the fantastic poets and translators we’ve worked with over the past two decades, returning to venues and partners we’ve worked with, and making new friends along the way.
The theme of our third showcase is Latinx poetry in translation. We’re teaming up with Ledbury Poetry Festival in June and WritersMosaic and the British Library in July, as well as international partners at New York University in Buenos Aires and producer Inés Maria Kreplak. We’ll be exploring queer poetry from Argentina and its equally queer translation, just in time for the end of Pride Month, and holding an introduction to translation workshop at Ledbury. The queer Latinx showcase will be BSL interpreted, Spanish/English interpreted, and livestreamed, so you can join from home too.
On 9 July, we’ll celebrate emerging Latinx translators at the British Library, London. We’ll also be launching The Thorn of Your Name, a new title by acclaimed Zapotec poet Victor Terán, translated by Shook, at an online launch this month.
