A morning of creativity as the Tamil community celebrate the work of poet Anar at the Tamil Community Centre in Hayes. At this Tamil language event the diaspora will be reacting and responding to Anar’s poetry in different mediums: dance, drawing and painting.
The poet Anar will be joining the event remotely, both to read her own poems and to engage with the community by getting involved in a back and forth dialogue between her work and their creative responses.
Anar will read poetry in Tamil and her translator, Hari Rajaledchumy, will be there in person to read the English translations. This will be followed by a dance response to Anar’s work from Rani Nagulendram from the Tamil Community Centre.
Arunthathi Ratnaraj will lead a painting and drawing workshop, with the participants discovering how they can reply to Anar’s work in a visual form before sharing their work with Anar herself over zoom.
The Tamil Community Center Hillingdon is a valuable hub for the Tamil community in the area. Open Monday to Friday they provide a wide range of services including free consultation and advice on welfare, housing, insurance, sorting out flights and parcel deliveries as well as proving classes on life in the UK and English.
This closed event is being hosted by the Tamil Community Centre.
