As part of the 2008 Somali Week Festival at Oxford House, Gaarriye and his translator, Martin Orwin, read some of his most famous work to an appreciative and excited audience.

Oxford House in Bethnal Green is a community and art centre in East London that was first established in 1884. It’s now a very important centre for a variety of youth, immigration, arts & community work in the area and is much used by the local Somali community.
