The very first event in Poetry Parnassus — Lunch Poems: Tales of Fire and Ice: Poetry, Myths and Music— features Al-Saddiq Al-Raddi from Sudan.

Poets from some of the hottest and coolest climates gather at the Queen Elizabeth Hall Roof Garden for a lunchtime recital. Pull up a stool and discover Nordic myths from Gerður Kristný. Listen to songs based on versions found in the ‘Suomen Kansan Vanhat Runot’ Anthology (The Ancient Poems of the Finnish People), which are sung and played by Pekko Kappi on the jouhikko — the ancient Finnish-Karelian bowed lyre. Plus readings from spellbinding Sudanese poet, Al-Saddiq Al-Raddi and young Ethiopian writer and comedian, Bewketu Seyoum.
