The first event outside London of our Persian Poets’ Tour was a unique chance to hear the poetry of five Persian Poets read and translated by some of the UK’s leading poets at The Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea.
Leading British poet, Jo Shapcott (winner of the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry 2011) reads her brilliant translations of the Tajik poet, Farzaneh Khojandi alongside Maura Dooley reading with Iranian poet, Azita Ghahreman; Mimi Khalvati reading with Shakila Azizzada from Afghanistan; and the Afghan poet, Reza Mohammadi.
The evening was a wonderful success. Jo Furber, Literature Officer at the Centre, wrote to thank us: ‘Just to say what a wonderful evening we had last night. Some members of the local Persian community came along, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and the poetry was absolutely superb. It was one of those special nights, and we look forward to the next PTC tour! Thanks to Travis for being brilliant, and thanks to all of you for making it possible.’

We deeply regret that, due to tragic personal circumstances, Farzaneh Khojandi and Partaw Naderi are unable to take part in this event.
