The Poetry Translation Centre is excited to be translating Brazilian poet and artist Adelaide Ivánova for the first time. Work collaboratively with returning Portuguese translator Francisco Vilhena and acclaimed UK poet Clare Pollard to create new English language versions of Adelaide’s poems.

Adelaide Ivánova is a Brazilian poet and artist (b. Recife, 1982). She lives between Berlin and Cologne. Her first poetry collection, O Martelo (The Hammer) was published in 2016. Her work has been featured in English in Clinic and Alba Londres.

Francisco Vilhena is an assistant editor at Granta. He translates from the Portuguese. His work has appeared in Granta, Wasafiri, Clinic and other publications.

Clare Pollard is an award winning UK poet, She has published four collections with Bloodaxe Books, latest is Incarnation. She has extensive experience as a translator, co-translating Caasha Lul Mohamud Yusuf for the PTC. Clare also mentors for New Writing North, and is a core tutor on the new Poetry School/University of Newcastle Poetry MA.
