Amrita Bharati is one of India’s leading literary figures. She is a fantastic poet: one of the first feminists writing in Hindi, she’s produced angry, surreal poems, but is also a great mystic. The critic Nirmal Verma said of her, ‘Amrita Bharati writes probably the most singular signature on the slate of contemporary Hindi poetry. Alone and unique.’
Lucy Rosenstein last worked with the PTC in 2005, when she co-translated the poet Gagan Gill with Jane Duran for our 2005 World Poets’ Tour, and we’re delighted to have her back with us again. We do hope you can join us.
