Kajal Ahmad, from Kurdistan has written this week’s poem ‘Rain’. The poem was translated by the poet Mimi Khavalti and the poet-translator Choman Hardi. In this podcast, the poem is read first in English by Mimi Khavalti and then the poem is read in Kurdish by Kajal.

A powerful reputation has been built built by Kajal Ahmed in Kurdistan as a poet with poignant and challenging work. Her career began early with her publications first released at the age of 21 and she has since been translated around the world, into Arabic, Turkish, Norwegian and into English.
