Dhallineey To the Young

Dhallineey

Dhallintii waddankaay!
Dhab baan hadlayaaye,
Adoo dhimirkaaga
Ka dhaadhicinaaya
Warkayga dhegeeyso!

Ku dhaado dhulkaaga!
Ka dheefso dhurkiisa!
Ka dhawrso xumaanta!
Ku dhiirro wanaagga!
Dhibtaada aqoonso!
Adduunyada dheeho!
Ka dheego tacliinta!
Dhiggaa la xisaabtan!

Dhunyee qarankeenni
Haddaan dhisan weynno,
Dhallaanka koraaya
Maxaa u dhigaal ah,
Hadhow dhaxalkood ah,
Inanna dhaqan noo ah?

To the Young

You who for today are young
hear how truth must drive my words
your wits are keen for debate
your reason deep, so consider
what's sure in what I'm saying.

Love dearly what your homeland's done,
benefit from its blessings;
defend yourselves from damage,
do good deeds with due daring;
admit to what defeats you,
attend to the world's delivering;
be diligent in learning,
keep pace with foreign peers!

Our nation would be at an end
if we did not renew it -
and what would that future hold?
The children who succeed you:
what will they inherit
but what we elders have passed on?

Hey Youth

Hey the homeland youth!
I speak in accordance with truth,
Through your keen mind
To make it think and reason
Listen to my words!

Love your homeland dearly!
Benefit yourself from its blessings!
Protect yourself from harm!
Have the courage to do good things!
Acknowledge your difficulties!
Pay attention to the world!
Pay close attention to education!
Keep pace with your counterpart!

Our state ceased to exist
If we don’t re-build it,
What will be the future savings?
The small children growing up at the moment
What will be their inheritance?
And for our generation something considered to be heredity.
