Angkarn Chanthathip was born in Khon Kaen province, in the north-east of Thailand. He has published five books of poetry: The Lover of Sadness,Paradise Descending to Red, Where We Stand,The Road and the Resting Place and The Heart’s Fifth Chamber, which won the prestigious South East Asian Writers’ Prize 2013.
He is a member of the group of poets known as ‘Poets ahead of Ram’, ‘Ram’ being short for Ramkhamhaeng – the name of a university in Bangkok.
