Brown Girls Write is a writing group for all women of colour who are interested in nurturing their creative writing skills or want to give it a go. The programme was created by New Writing North’s Creative Associate Sharmin Islam, who drew on her own experiences as a South Asian woman pursuing a career in the arts to set up the group. They meet regularly at the Newcastle Deaf Centre, offering a space for Brown Girls to create their own narratives and characters. You can find out more here.
