Prize-winning poet and short-story writer, Tea Topuria was born in 1977 in Sochumi, Georgia. In 1998 she graduated from the faculty of Journalism at Tbilisi State University.

In addition to her poetry collection Ecocide, Tea has published a number of highly acclaimed books of short stories including The Mint Threshing Floor, The Book of Tales, The Holidays of Paradea and The Awakening Fairy Tales.

Tea has been short-listed and has won many prestigious literary competitions, among them the Pen Marathon in 2007, the Okros Bumbuli (Golden Feather) prize in 2008, the Saba competition (2008), the Tsero prize (2006 and 2010) and the Gala Award in (2011).
