Somali Book Bundle
As part of Somali Week 2022, we have put together a bundle of 3 incredible Somali titles published and co-published by the PTC. They feature two individual collections and an anthology, giving insight into the exciting modern and contemporary Somali poetry scene.
Hadraawi: The Poet and the Man – The brilliance of the late Somali poet Hadraawi is demonstrated in this translated collection of his works. It is the first collection of his to be published with the original Somali poems alongside their English translation. The poems featured in this book are translated by Maxamed Xasan ‘Alto’ and Said Jama Hussein, working closely with poet W N Herbert.
Catastrophe: This work of Xasan Daahir Ismaaciil ‘Weedhsame’, translated by Daljit Nagra and Martin Orwin showcases his flowing lyrics and beautiful verses. A bilingual publication, as are all the titles in this bundle, it is published in the form of a ‘poetry poster’, with one being able to unfold the entire piece.
So At One With You is an anthology of the exciting contemporary poets in Somalia and abroad writing now (or recently).
